Who is eligible to apply?


Applicant must be a current employee OR past employee OR a legal dependent OR a grandchild of a current or past employee of TD SYNNEX Corporation or its subsidiaries who left the company in good standing.

Applicant must be a current employee OR past employee OR a legal dependent OR a grandchild of a current or past employee that worked for TD SYNNEX Corporation or its subsidiaries for a minimum of three years at the time of the application deadline.

Students who can demonstrate academic excellence and leadership qualities through activities in school, community or social service activities.

Applicant must be accepted into and have confirmed the intent to enroll OR be enrolled on a full-time basis in an undergraduate program in a four-year college or university ranked as a top college or university according to the lists provided in the About the Scholarship section. 


How much does the scholarship provide?


Up to $10,000 USD will be granted to help defray the costs of tuition or other education related expenses. Up to 20 scholarships will be awarded each year.

Scholarships are renewable for up to 3 years, provided students maintain full-time enrollment, a minimum 3.0 GPA, continue to show leadership qualities and be actively involved in leadership activities. Visit the renewal page for more information. 


Are students outside of the United States eligible for the scholarship?


Students outside of the U.S. who meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to apply; however, students must be planning to attend an eligible school in the U.S., U.K., Canada, China, Japan or India. 


Which schools meet the eligibility criteria?


Currently, the scholarship applies to several hundred U.S., Asian schools, and several U.K., Canadian and India colleges/universities.

Scholarship payments to educational institutions outside of the U.S. will require additional due diligence. Greater Horizons must verify that the school of attendance is a qualified educational institution under the laws of another country. International institutions unable to satisfy the requirements determined by Greater Horizons will not be considered for participation in the Huang Leadership Development Scholarship. 


Who is considered a legal dependent?


Dependent is defined as a child, by birth, marriage, adoption, foster children, siblings, and step-siblings up to the age of 19, or 24 if they are a full-time student relying on a current or past employee, of good standing, for financial support; a child for whom the taxpayer may claim an exemption on his/her income tax return; and if you have provided more than half their support, and they lived with you for more than half the year. Grandchildren are eligible and are not required to be legal dependents. 


How do I demonstrate leadership to the scholarship committee?


Your personal statement (essay) and the application allow you to describe the various awards and honors, school activities, community involvement, and any other personal achievements that indicate a strong desire to further enrich your life and the lives of others. In addition, the letters of reference should come from community leaders–such as teachers, employers, business owners, and heads of charities– who know you personally and with whom you may have worked. 


What kind of personal statement/essay do I need to write?


Your personal statement should address all of the prompts (see Required Supporting Documents section) while focusing on your personal goals and your interest in developing yourself as a future leader in an increasingly inter-connected world. 


How do I apply?


Candidates must complete the online application and submit all required materials in English to be considered for the scholarship. 


If I am awarded a scholarship, do I get the check?


No. Should you be awarded, scholarship payments will be sent directly to your college financial aid office after Greater Horizons receives verification of admission and enrollment. 


If I receive a scholarship one year, will I automatically receive an award the following year?


No. While the scholarship is renewable for up to three years and can be received for a total of four years, recipients must continue to meet renewal eligibility criteria. Renewable eligibility criteria include:
 

• Complete mid-year update report
• Continued growth in college, leadership qualities and be actively involved in leadership activities.
• Full-time enrollment status at approved school of attendance
• Minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.0;
• Complete and submit online Renewal Request Form along with required attachments 


When will the interview be held?


The interview will be held TBD for select candidates. 


When will I be notified of decisions?
