Sigma Chi Fraternity at Clemson University recently hosted their annual Derby Days, one of the largest charitable events by a Greek organization in the Southeast. This year they raised more than $30 thousand and donated $28,442 to TD SYNNEX Share the Magic, an annual fundraising initiative created by TD SYNNEX Corporation to provide the much needed funding for Upstate, South Carolina children facing incredible challenges such as illness, abuse or neglect through four beneficiaries – Make-A-Wish South Carolina, A Child’s Haven, Clement’s Kindness and Pendleton Place for Children & Families.
Derby Days is a week-long philanthropic event hosted by Sigma Chi Fraternity chapters across the country to serve their local community with not just money, but also time and effort. The Clemson University chapter hosted the week-long lineup of events from September 22-26, 2014, with Sigma Chi members serving as coaches and hosting a series of events and competitions among the sororities on campus. Money is raised through donations and fundraising events.
“Derby Days gives the members of Sigma Chi the unique opportunity to make an impact in the community, and it is especially meaningful to know that this year’s efforts will make a difference in the lives of many children right here in the Upstate,” said Mike Brierton, Clemson University alumni and Philanthropy Chapter Advisor.
Since 1977, Sigma Chi Derby Days at Clemson University has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local and national philanthropies.
“On behalf of TD SYNNEX Share the Magic and the organizations we support and the children they serve, we thank the members of Sigma Chi for their donation.” said Bob Stegner, Senior Vice President, Marketing North America at TD SYNNEX. “These guys work really hard each year to raise money for a charity, and we are thankful that they chose to support TD SYNNEX Share the Magic and children right here in the Upstate.”
