Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco Systems, declared that the “future of work is hybrid.” Robbins’ comments come at a time when customers are looking e beyond immediate needs and towards the long term. Robbins believes that the workplace cannot and should not reverse the innovations learned throughout 2020 but instead, embrace a hybrid work environment.

It comes as no surprise that over the last year many organizations realized the long-held beliefs about remote working employees are not as accurate as once believed. Employees demonstrated that not only can a remote workforce be as productive as one in a traditional office setup but that in some cases, the connectivity and collaboration increased productivity. But with the return to the office looming,  Cisco is working on how to maintain and expand on the lessons learned from the experience.

“It’s going to be hybrid,” Robbins said during his recent Cisco Live! 2021 presentation. “You’re going to have to deal with employees who are both in the office and at home.” This has caused some businesses to fret over the logistics, with them asking, “How do we create an experience that makes the home user feel just as productive, just as effective, and just as much of an contributor to the meetings as their onsite colleagues?” These concerns are valid and their solutions are a matter of debate in the IT channel.

Cisco is approaching the challenges in the upcoming WebEx event “Hybrid Work. Made Real.” The two-day event, scheduled to begin on June 8th, will detail the innovations that Cisco has developed to help create a more connected experience in a hybrid workplace. Far from just providing quick fixes, the event is focused on bringing the employee into the workplace no matter where they are. “Work. It’s not a place you go to anymore. It’s what you do.”

The event will discuss the ways that organizations can facilitate a safe and inclusive return to the office. Whether by empowering IT to securely meet the demands of a hybrid workplace or creating a delightful customer and employee experience, there are many options to pursue. The hybrid experience must be flexible, inclusive, supportive, secure, and easy to manage, all of which are possible thanks to the digital transformation.

The event will also feature business intelligence insights from Robbins, along with Francine Katsoudas, Cisco’s EVP and Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer, and Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s SVP and GM of Security and Collaboration. Other speakers from IBM, McLaren Racing, and a variety of other Cisco leaders will offer their experience and insights about the future of hybrid work.

As Robbins declared, hybrid work is the future. Creating a workplace that does more than just allow hybrid work requires a willingness to change. Cisco Hybrid Work Event is an excellent opportunity to learn exactly what it takes, and how the IT channel is prepared to help.
