Wi-Fi 6, powered by IoT, is changing how technologies exist. With virtual reality and autonomous vehicles, connectivity and information sharing are becoming more empowered. In a recent Cisco blog, the author examined the top three benefits of Wi-Fi 6, which include better performance, faster speeds, and increased energy efficiency.
“It won’t be long before Wi-Fi 6 APs and devices are everywhere — Wi-Fi 6 devices are expected to be more than half of the devices sold in 2020,” according to the blog. “As Wi-Fi 6 becomes the new normal, consumers will have a significantly better experience connecting to wireless networks.”

At the Comstor Executive Federal Summit, speakers discussed the trends and growth opportunities for Value-Added Resellers (VARS). IoT topped this list along with security and artificial intelligence (AI). For the public sector, using IoT in smart city technology is of interest. In addition, there will be a shift in focus from large metropolitan areas to smaller communities, creating sales opportunities for VARs.

Forrester recently released a report outlining five IoT predictions to help CIOs prepare for the technology that will change their business. According to Forrester, the popularity of IoT has grown so much that a new branch has emerged – IIOT or Industrial IoT.
This IoT refers to connected machines and factories that are equipped with sensors. In 2020, CIOs will need to prepare for IIoT and for a new wave of IoT devices that integrate 5G, customer service uses for IoT, and cybersecurity for these connected devices.
