It’s Labor Day Weekend, which means a weekend of sales, picnics, and the last of summer vacation getaways. While all of those are great things to do – and, really – they are fun – the holiday originated as a dedication to the social and economic achievements of American workers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) and “constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”

The backbone of that strength, prosperity, and well-being is surely the small- to medium-sized business (SMB), which makes up 99.7 of all employers and creates 63 percent of the net new private-sector jobs in America, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

With numbers like those, it is likely that you are either an SMB owner or employed by one. If that is the case, congratulations for all you do and enjoy your holiday! If you are not in one of those categories, take a moment this weekend to support an SMB, whether it is a local B&B or a local grocer.

Your support over Labor Day weekend will surely be appreciated.
