“75 percent of technologists face more IT complexity than ever before and wrestle with overwhelming data noise,” claimed Steven Wallace, Customer Success Manager, Cisco CX, during the Observability and the Cloud Cisco CX Webinar Series, where he, Cade Girod, TD SYNNEX Product Business Manager, Cisco Data Center, and Will Scruggs, TD SYNNEX Product Business Manager, Cisco Enterprise Networking, met to discuss observability and cloud solutions further. Observability is a tool to help sort through the noise and draw impactful insights to resolve issues quickly. Observability allows agencies to better understand their environment by uncovering the inner workings of complex systems through data collection, analysis, and visualization.

With applications increasingly leveraging components or services across on-premises, software as a service (SaaS), and public clouds, the shift to observability allows for greater scalability, flexibility, and cost efficiency. The use of applications in the cloud does not grant IT administrators full control of the systems their users interface with and makes it challenging to remediate issues in performance and uptime. This reduced visibility is where observability tools can be deployed to oversee the organization’s system.

Full-stack observability and hybrid cloud software solutions are now paramount in today’s landscape to understand what is happening throughout an organization’s system. Joe Vaccaro, Vice President of Products at ThousandEyes, stated, “The enterprise-technology stack can be defined by three new realities: the cloud is now your new data center; the Internet is your new enterprise network; and SaaS apps are your new application stack.” The way of transacting with data has fundamentally changed and shifted toward cloud and hybrid models. People access data in various ways, and the need for understanding and managing these systems is greater than ever.

Observability allows organizations to gather rich data from various sources. More tools and points of telemetry provide a broader perspective, offering rich context that is invaluable in remediating downtime and enhancing productivity. The transition to the cloud has brought scalability, flexibility, and cost efficiency. It has, however, also introduced new challenges like disparate systems, reduced visibility, and dealing with different vendors. To manage these complexities effectively, agencies need actionable data.

AppDynamics is one such tool that aids organizations in managing their applications across the board. A hybrid cloud environment has become the norm in a world where individuals use their phones to access everything. From retail to B2B, from sales to procurement, businesses run on mobile devices, bringing various challenges, including network issues, hardware and software problems, and security concerns, commented Girod.

A solution like AppDynamics identifies issues and helps to remediate downtime to ensure organizations continue running smoothly. By observing and optimizing the technology stack, these solutions provide full-stack insights to ensure applications are running efficiently and prioritizing issues when they arise.

While AppDynamics provides visibility into application performance, other tools like ThousandEyes offer insights into the user-to-application connection. Together, they provide a comprehensive solution to manage the complexities of a cloud-centric world, Scruggs stated. For organizations using SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, and remote workforces, ThousandEyes helps them see, understand, and enhance the digital experience. In a world where complexity is increasing due to the adoption of the cloud, third-party applications, and remote work, ThousandEyes restores lost visibility and control.

Scruggs said, “ThousandEyes believes in four key pillars: the cloud as the new data center, SAS is the new application stack, the home is the new office, and the Internet is the new network.” It provides rich telemetry and actionable insights crucial for navigating this ever-changing technological landscape.

Observability in the cloud is necessary for agencies looking to thrive in a digital world. It’s about understanding your systems, optimizing their performance, and ensuring that organizations remain resilient despite evolving challenges.
