September 2024 will be remembered as a pivotal time for TD SYNNEX and its global community of partners, ushering in a new era of leadership with Patrick Zammit’s move to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the announcement of Reyna Thompson to become President of North America. These changes coincide with the retirement of longtime CEO Rich Hume and the transition of Peter Larocque, President of North America, to an advisory role. Together, these leadership shifts reflect TD SYNNEX’s commitment to growth, innovation, and the continued success of its distribution partners.

Patrick Zammit: Steering TD SYNNEX into the Next Chapter

It has been quite a year for Patrick Zammit. Starting as Chief Operating Officer (COO) on January 1, 2024, his swift transition to CEO just eight months later highlights his strong leadership and deep industry expertise. Zammit brings more than 30 years of experience in driving global growth, operational excellence, and strategic innovation, with key leadership roles at Avnet and Tech Data. His success in managing the company’s operations across Europe and the APJ regions has made him a pivotal figure in shaping the future of TD SYNNEX.

“I am honored to succeed Rich and lead TD SYNNEX into its next chapter,” said Zammit. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation we have established and driving forward our strategy and digitization roadmap to ensure we are constantly delivering the greatest value to our co-workers, partners, vendors, and shareholders.”

Under Zammit’s leadership, TD SYNNEX is poised to continue its trajectory of innovation and strategic growth. In a confident endorsement, Hume said about his successor: “In this dynamic and ever-changing technology landscape, Patrick is the right leader to build on this foundation as we continue to deliver value to our customers and vendors across the ecosystem. Under his leadership, I am confident that TD SYNNEX will reach even greater heights.”

Reyna Thompson: Leading North America Forward

Reyna Thompson will assume her new role as President of North America effective December 1, 2024, stepping into the shoes of Peter Larocque, a 40-year veteran of TD SYNNEX. Thompson, who joined the company in 1993, has most recently led the North America Advanced Solutions unit, focusing on cloud, security, data/AI, and data center solutions. Known for her innovative approach and deep commitment to supporting channel partners, Thompson has earned a reputation as a trusted leader within the IT ecosystem.

“Reyna has built an impressive track record over the past three decades through her unwavering commitment to driving success for both vendors and customers,” said Zammit. “She is a true champion for our partners, known for her innovative and collaborative thinking, and we look forward to the value she will deliver for our stakeholders in this new role.”

Thompson’s leadership will be critical as TD SYNNEX continues to expand its advanced solutions portfolio, helping partners access new technologies and navigate the evolving digital landscape.

Rich Hume and Peter Larocque: Leaving Legacies Excellence

As TD SYNNEX looks to the future with Zammit and Thompson at the helm, it’s also worth reflecting on the significant contributions of Hume and Larocque.

Hume started with the company known as Tech Data in 2016, becoming CEO in 2018. During his tenure, Hume oversaw a period of immense growth and transformation, including the acquisition of Avnet Technology Solutions and the successful merger of Tech Data and SYNNEX. His focus on fostering a culture of servant leadership, innovation, and customer excellence positioned TD SYNNEX as a leader in the global IT distribution space. Under his guidance, the company has embraced a purpose-driven approach, empowering employees, supporting partners, and making a lasting impact on the communities it serves.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my professional career to serve as CEO of TD SYNNEX,” Hume said. “I am proud of the culture we have built, our partner-first focus, and the purpose-driven approach we have taken in our business.” Although Hume is stepping away from his role as CEO, he will remain close as a member of the TD SYNNEX board of directors.

Larocque, who will transition to an advisory role on November 30, leaves behind an equally impressive legacy. Larocque has been a key figure in the company’s expansion across North America, mentoring countless employees and playing an instrumental role in the company’s growth. His leadership in initiatives like TD SYNNEX Share the Magic, which has raised more than $25 million for children’s charities, underscores his commitment to both business success and community impact.

“Peter has been a cornerstone of TD SYNNEX for 40 years,” said Zammit. “He leaves an impressive legacy of service—whether mentoring thousands of co-workers or making a profound impact on local communities.”

Looking Ahead: What This Means for TD SYNNEX and Its Partners

As TD SYNNEX embarks on this new leadership journey, distribution partners can expect continued innovation, operational excellence, and an unwavering focus on collaboration. Zammit’s global experience and strategic vision, combined with Thompson’s expertise and innovation in advanced solutions, position TD SYNNEX to offer partners even more support in navigating emerging technologies and expanding their market reach.

With a strong foundation laid by Hume and Larocque, the company remains committed to delivering value, driving growth, and fostering a purpose-driven culture that extends beyond the bottom line. As TD SYNNEX enters this new chapter, partners can look forward to the same trusted leadership and commitment to success that has been a hallmark of the company’s legacy.
