With National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)underway, industry and government organizations are collaborating in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security, while providing insight and resources to ensure that organizations of all sizes are more secure online. At Comstor, a few members of the team are dedicated to this effort for partners and VARs, not only in October, but throughout the year.
EDGE360 is continuing to introduce readers to the people behind the Comstor team. In honor of NCSAM, we focus on the Cisco Security sales enablement programs designed to help channel partners create successful cyber security programs. From security trainings to certifications and much more, the people behind this team help partners build, grow, and extend their practices.
This month, we talked with Evan Bell, Business Development for Cisco Security for Weston-Comstor Americas, who is passionate about helping partners navigate the world of Cisco and cyber security. Bell has been with Comstor for seven years, spending the past three years immersed in cyber security. We talked with him about how he got started and why he enjoys what he does today. Here is what he had to say:
How did you get started in this field and what excites you most about what you do?
I transitioned from an account management role into a business development role to start helping Cisco partners develop their Cisco practices. What excites me most is being that go-to resource for partners to rely on to help them navigate the profound world of Cisco and cyber security. Cyber security is also an exciting industry with so many moving parts, so there is always something to learn about. That’s the cherry on top!
Tell us about your role at Comstor and how you help partners?
When partners work with our business development team, the doors of opportunity are swept open. Whether the partner is new to Cisco or a Channel expert, there are benefits that any partner of any size can realize by engaging with me and my team. From Certifications to one-on-one product coaching and engineering/marketing support, by participating in Comstor’s EDGE program, we have everything partners need to succeed with Cisco.
What advice do you have for partners looking to get started with Cisco today?
Cisco is a daunting vendor. There is a lot to learn! Let us show you the most efficient way to get started with our Quick Start program. Leverage our resources to help you get started.
Tell us something about yourself that we would not get from looking at your LinkedIn profile or bio.
I am a channel-focused IT professional ready to help partners sell Cisco security today. But outside of work, I am an accomplished musician, and I enjoy exploring the mountains, craft beers, and traveling.
