Originally hailing from Dallas, Texas, James McGregor’s loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys football team is more than just a sporting preference – it’s a lifelong commitment. With the echoes of their last Super Bowl victory 27 years ago, being a Cowboys fan has certainly required unwavering dedication. Undeterred, McGregor remains a fervent supporter, exuding an unshakable optimism that this might finally be their year once more. Beyond the realms of the football field, this enduring dedication permeates into his professional life as a TD SYNNEX Product Business Manager (PBM). Just as he believes in his team’s potential to clinch the championship, he invests the same faith in his ability to drive innovation and excellence amongst partners.
McGregor has spent three years in technology distribution, with a specialization in networking and security. The past 18 of those months he has been a vital part of the TD SYNNEX team. Before diving into the tech distribution, he honed his skills in the cyber insurance industry, an experience that has proven invaluable in his current role. McGregor’s background has enabled him to offer a holistic approach to problem-solving and strategy development. As a TD SYNNEX PBM, his focus is on security, which he said he loves because it’s a topic that’s top of mind for everyone. “I get to spend my time making sure partners not only know what products Cisco offers but also how they work to protect their customers from the ever-growing list of threats out there,” he explained.
When he’s not busy ensuring the success of distribution partners, McGregor is passionate about wellness. He is an avid golfer and gym enthusiast, who dedicates his evenings to playing racquetball. In the warm summer months, he also enjoys swimming laps outside. Beyond his fitness pursuits, his heart belongs to his two corgis, who never fail to brighten his day.
In McGregor’s team, one of the primary goals is to empower Cisco partners, and they do it quite well. “Humbly, I must admit that the Cisco PBM team is hands down the team to be on. We’ve got a world-class crew and we know how to get the job done. Our main goal is to make sure Cisco partners – big and small – are as successful as they can possibly be selling the entire Cisco portfolio,” he shared. The team works to identify and bridge any gaps in knowledge, training, or enablement, equipping partners with the necessary tools to drive profitability.
With a focus on security, McGregor has a vital job. “If you are not selling security products to your customers, someone else is,” he emphasized. He is committed to not only familiarizing partners with Cisco’s security product range but also educating them on how these products safeguard against the ever-evolving threats. From safeguarding student data in a local middle school to protecting sensitive government information to ensuring outside actors can’t infiltrate essential hospital equipment, McGregor ensures that partners are equipped to counter any potential risks. “Let’s work together to make sure your customers are protected and prepared for anything,” he added.
