Emerging Technology — The Framework is Evolving:
New technologies are emerging. For those in the IT channel, there needs to be further education on the impact these emerging technologies will have on business outcomes. 5G networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the impact of Internet of Things are just a few that will impact the current IT landscape. Todd Thibodeaux, CEO of CompTIA, shared his insights with the ChannelCon audience.

Nearly everyone is shifting to the new realities of emerging technologies. Even basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal. “Geeks rule the world,” claimed 7-foot-1-inch legend, AKA “Shaq” who discussed his love for technology and how he got started investing in it.

During Times of Change, Strong Partnerships are Needed:
As the technology community continues to shift, innovate, and learn how to solve customers’ most pressing needs, one thing remains steadfast: The need for strong partnerships. Nellie Scott, a presenter and panelist at ChannelCon, explained the importance of partnering with people who are going to make an investment in you. “Partner with people who are going to invest in you and your business…and select solutions that are closely aligned with what you do best,” she told the audience.
Partnerships can help you grow and transform your business. For example, Comstor leverages a team of experts to walk partners through building a practice, gaining certifications, and enabling more sales. They have programs to help, whether the partner is emerging and looking to get started or established and looking to accelerate its business.

Identifying New Revenue Streams:
Conversations at the event also focused on different business models and where revenue is often left on the table. Discussions revolved around a recurring revenue model and how these and generating new revenue streams both are key for channel businesses. “We are leaving revenue on the table,” Scott said. In line with creating strong, meaningful partnerships, Scott suggests, “Find the people who can enter these spaces at a low cost, and the vendors and partners who will help you invest in your business.”
