Cisco Live, the Cisco annual customer and partner conference, came to a close last week in San Diego, CA. The conference connects, engages, and educates attendees. From emerging technology in the channel to the latest social media tactics for Value-Added Resellers (VARs), Cisco Live has a little something for everyone.

The five-day conference included sessions, hands-on training, and one-on-one meetings with leaders in the channel. During the week, attendees learned about Cisco products, technologies, and services that can be leveraged to grow their business, such as Cisco DevNet, which will now be included in the Cisco certification and training program.

The conference offered many networking opportunities for VARs and opened the doors to connect with Cisco engineers and executives that can help with technical or business challenges. VARs also had the opportunity to connect with other attendees at the Social Media Hub and New Attendee events.

The biggest draw to Cisco Live was the chance to explore the new technologies and solutions transforming the future of the channel. IT leaders showcased and educated attendees about these emerging solutions in a creative environment. John Brookbank, VP of American Distribution with Cisco, took the stage to discuss how distribution impacts partner success.

Main topics of discussion at the conference included leadership, programmability, automation, security, and SD-Wan. Cisco executives and industry leaders covered these topics in keynotes, breakout sessions, and workshops. Guy Diedrich, Cisco VP, explored how IoT and digital transformation will impact the channel and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, actress and environmentalist, discussed how the entertainment and technology industries have many similarities. “To succeed, you must have perseverance, the ability to adapt, and a sense for what is coming next,” she told the audience.
