With federal buying season upon us, it’s time for value added resellers (VARs) to familiarize themselves with the top public sector priorities and learn how they can build their own public sector practice. Today, there are more than 3.3 billion devices connected to and supporting everything from smart cities to military communications. Federal agencies are looking to expand their IT offerings through digital transformation, including the internet of things (IoT), cybersecurity, cloud, and more.

VARs who are looking to expand their public sector practice must first position themselves for success by:

-Understanding the challenges and goals of the agency being targeted for sales
-Providing solutions that make modernization attainable for federal agencies
-Assisting in migrating from older infrastructure, which continues to be a challenge impeding the move to digitization for many agencies

Federal agencies are looking to dive into digital transformation to adopt cloud solutions that can improve collaboration and productivity, while reducing costs. VARs that can offer such solutions, as well as cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance, make themselves even more valuable to agencies. Agencies are also looking into artificial intelligence, IoT, and Blockchain. VARs offering these innovative solutions must be prepared to highlight security options and data protection solutions.

“We are at a point in time where the budget resources are available, and the IT need is there,” said Jay Denton, Vice President and General Manager of Comstor. “Together with SYNNEX, Comstor, and Cisco, our federal reseller partners are in a unique position to take advantage of the current market opportunities and grow their businesses.”
